This is the core of trust on the platform, and it works for both sides.
How it works
- You hire and pay. The amount leaves your account.
- The money is held. The freelancer can see it is there but cannot touch it.
- The work is delivered on the platform.
- You approve (or the 7 days pass).
- Only then does the amount move to the freelancer.
Why this protects both
- The client does not risk paying and receiving nothing.
- The freelancer does not risk working unpaid: they know the money is already held before they start.
When there is a problem
If you open a dispute within the deadline, the amount is frozen while the situation is examined. As a rule only the amount related to the problem is frozen, not the whole wallet. The outcome can range from full release to the freelancer to a full refund to the client, with intermediate solutions in between.
Work arranged off-platform has none of this. No money held, no dispute, no record. That is why the platform
insists on this point.
